Biography
Cody Beard is a professional trumpeter native to the Upstate of South Carolina. Cody holds a Bachelor's Degree in music from Lander University, and a music certificate from Salzburg College in Salzburg, Austria. His primary teachers were Dr. Reed Gallo, and Wolfgang Navratil. Cody also perused studies at the University of Georgia where he studied intensively with Philip Smith, former principle trumpet of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to his primary teachers, Cody also received instruction from other highly recognized teachers including Adam Rapa, Mark Clodfelter, and Judith Saxton.
Cody has stretched his skill set all across the state as a freelance musician. He has performed numerous times with the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Greenville Symphony Orchestra, the Columbia Festival Orchestra and the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. Along with playing in the orchestral setting, Cody also performs with brass chamber music groups, and his own jazz quintet. Cody has also performed as lead trumpet for "Shrek the Musical", "The Sound of Music", "The Music Man", and "The Wizard of Oz" with the Greenwood Community Theatre.
